Inspiration and inspiration research are two different, but equally important, things to consider when planning a website design. Any piece of art or design begins with inspiration whether the the artist or designer realizes it or not.

Artistic inspiration comes from a compilation of everything that you have ever seen or experienced. But, we are slaves to routine, and many of the routine experiences that we have over and over throughout the day become second nature, causing our minds to be less active and open to new and useful information. To combat this, simply switch up your routine. It doesn’t have to be a major change. Listen to a new type of music, watch a foreign film, or take a different route to work. It may be just enough to awaken your mind from its daily filtering, and cause you to notice other things around you that you would not normally notice.

Getting hit with a spark of inspiration, however, is not always enough. You need the right kind of inspiration. We’re inspired by things that we see and experience, and we need to make sure we’re seeing and experiencing the best possible things specific to what we’re seeking inspiration for. Fortunately, in today’s world, we have the greatest resource available right at our fingertips. Using the internet, we can specifically search for amazing examples of layout and design in order to keep up with the latest design trends, and to see how other designers are handling layout, color, texture, and many other design elements. Seeing amazing examples of what others are doing, coupled with your own design skills will allow you to be inspired to create new and unique designs.
