The tragedy caused by Hurricane Harvey is something that has affected people near and far. Individuals, families, friends and businesses from all over the nation are coming together in order to fundraise for the communities that have been affected. If your team would like to get involved, here are a few things to consider:
1) Be creative.
If you are fundraising as a team, develop a creative way to get as many people involved as possible. Trying something out of the norm could attract more interest and in the end, gain more donations. Whether it is something as simple as a GoFundMe page or as large as creating an event, any donation can go a long way.
So, what is Archer doing?
Archer has been paying attention to the news about Hurricane Harvey and has decided that we want to do our part in helping those affected. Every week (and sometimes more than once) our team goes out to lunch at a different restaurant, but now that is changing. Throughout the next few months, we will be giving up our “lunch money” and donating it to Hurricane Harvey relief programs. Working together to support this cause has been a great bonding experience for the team and has brought even more awareness to the situation.
2) Encourage others to get involved.
Post about what your team is doing to help on social media or spread the word to family, friends, or co-workers. Don’t be shy about what your team is doing to help, it could inspire them to join in or donate, as well! Consider using a hashtag for others to share or challenging people to match your donation.
3) Do your research.
When something this large-scale happens, there are an abundance of organizations that need support and donations, but how do you know that the money will be put to good use? Find out exactly who, where and what you’re money will be going towards. Research different charities by reading articles from trustworthy sources including newspapers or www.CharityNavigator.org a website that provides ratings for different charities and suggests certain ones depending on the cause (to access their Hurricane Harvey relief page click here).
In today’s society, there are plenty of ways we can come together and support this cause to help those in need. We challenge your team to get involved and make a difference today!
